From first-time players to long-standing traditions, this week’s major prize winners reminded us a big win can happen at any moment — no matter how long you’ve been playing. Catch up on all the highlights:

First ever lottery ticket delivers life-changing win

Over the weekend, we saw four Saturday Lotto division one winners each scoop up a sweet $1.26 million. Among the happy bunch were a Melton couple, who had purchased their very first lottery ticket.

When we called to confirm the winning news, they erupted into cheers and screams, barely able to believe their first-ever ticket had led them to a division one delight.

“Is this true? $1.26 million! Oh my god!” the winning husband cheered.

“Jesus Christ! I can’t believe it! I’ve never done this before. This is my very first time playing lotteries!

“Someone told me to try my luck at lotteries, and I thought ‘why not!’.

“We’ve been going through a tough time with our business, and it’s been incredibly difficult not to sell. But oh my god, this win is an absolute godsend!”

Late dad’s numbers inspire million-dollar-winning ticket

A Wadalba man was enjoying his breakfast when he received the heartwarming news that his late dad’s lottery numbers, had made him an overnight millionaire in a Weekday Windfall draw.

The down-to-earth winner told us he’d been a working-class man his entire life, and said the prize would unlock a world of possibilities.

“God! I need to get a bit of air now,” he exclaimed.

“My dad started playing lotteries back in the 1980s, but when he passed away, I kept some of his numbers going.

“I just kept playing them, just in his memory and added some new ones from the family.”

Workday happily interrupted by Lucky Lotteries surprise

Meanwhile, a Sydney woman from Clovelly was going about her workday when we interrupted with the news she’d won $100,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries draw. She told us she’d only recently started playing, declaring her win felt nothing short of extraordinary.

“I was just working when you called. I love the interruption!” she said.

“As you’d expect, I’m a bit taken aback. This is so significant.

“I’ve only just started playing Lucky Lotteries.

“I feel very fortunate. It’s extraordinary. It’s put me in a bit of a spin.”
