In case you missed it: Toasters, tears, and Toyota dreams for new Aussie winners
While winter sweeps across the country, some very grateful winners experienced chills of a different kind this week. Just ask the generous Tuncurry father who experienced a full-circle moment when he won the Play For Purpose First Prize Pack. Catch up on his win and more!
Support of Starlight Children’s Foundation leads to raffle prize win
A Tuncurry man won the $250,000 First Prize Pack in the most recent Play For Purpose charity raffle, including a Toyota Sahara. His winning ticket had a personal connection and was purchased in support of Starlight Children’s Charity.
“I’m absolutely stunned. I’m actually out driving for work right now, but I think I need to pull over and take a moment to let this sink in,” he said.
“Starlight has been there for my kids and our family when we needed it. Their support made a real difference in our lives, and I’m very grateful.
“From hospital visits to surgeries, they’ve been incredibly helpful.
“This was actually the first time I’d bought a ticket. I received an email about it and thought ‘Why not?’.”
Keilor East father to share $1.6 million win with family
In Victoria, another generous dad was celebrating a win of his own, this time a $1.6 million TattsLotto prize! A Keilor East father spent the night tossing and turning following the dreamy news he had become a millionaire.
“I first asked my wife if I was looking at a win of $1,600 or $16,000. That’s when she confirmed I was in fact looking at $1.6 million!” he explained.
“Things have been tough lately, and this will just help immensely.
“I’ll definitely help the kids out.
“I can help set them up with a house deposit. Then I’ll put the rest aside.”
Long-running syndicate celebrates lottery success
A standout moment from the week was the moment a group of Morningside workmates found out they had won a $1.6 million prize on their long-running syndicate. The group were toasting to their win, and happily making plans – starting with, of all things, splurging on a brand-new toaster.
“It’s been a very happy morning for five of us. We’ve been playing for a long time and purchase random tickets here and there,” the syndicate leader said.
“We’re all old work colleagues and despite not working together anymore, we still keep in touch; they’re like family.
"I told my two sisters, and the first thing they asked was, ‘What are you going to buy?’ I laughed and said, ‘A brand-new toaster as my old one finally gave up!’”
Sussex Inlet woman gobsmacked over $100,000 win
It took a few tries to reach our Sussex Inlet winner to let her know she’d won a $100,000 Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize, but her reaction was worth the wait!
“Oh wow. My mouth is on the floor right now!” she said.
“Mum’s here beside me, laughing with me. This is incredible.
“I don’t believe it. Wait until I tell my sister. I’m going to call her straight after this.
“From hospital bills to other things, it’ll go a long way. Thank you!”
Nothing warms us up in the middle of winter like hearing our winners celebrate! We hope to be calling you with a heartwarming win of your own soon. Good luck!
