Everyone is Welcome Here at The Lott!
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued, no matter who they are. That’s why The Lott is proud to support initiatives that promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity in our communities.
One such initiative is the Welcome Here Project, which helps businesses across Australia create visibly welcoming spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. As part of The Lott’s commitment to inclusion, we encourage all our retail partners to join this important movement.
The Welcome Here Project provides businesses with tools to show their support for LGBTQ+ inclusion. When one of our outlets signs up, they receive a Welcome Here pack that includes stickers, charters, postcards, badges and magnets.
These materials are proudly displayed in-store to let customers know that diversity is not only accepted but also celebrated.
We’re proud that many outlets have already embraced the initiative. Participation sends a powerful message of support to local communities.
We recently caught up with one of our franchisees, Shaun Botfield from Nottingham Road News in Calamvale, to hear why being part of the Welcome Here Project is so important to him and his team.
“Visibility matters. We want every person who walks through our doors to know they’re welcome,” Shaun said.
“The Lott’s support made it an easy decision to join the Welcome Here Project. It’s more than a sticker; it’s a statement of who we are.
“As LGBTQ+ community members ourselves, it’s important our customers know they’re entering a space that supports and respects them.
“The Welcome Here logo is a recognised symbol of pride and inclusion. Seeing it more often in local businesses is uplifting.
“We want people to feel safe being themselves, whether they’re here for a chat or to make a purchase.
“Being open and honest in both personal and professional spaces should be the norm, and this initiative helps make that possible.
“It means a lot to have a well-known brand like The Lott backing this. It makes us proud to be part of something bigger.”
While franchisees operate independently, we provide guidance and encouragement and we’re inspired by those who choose to take part in the Welcome Here Project.
Each of these retailers is making a meaningful contribution by ensuring that everyone, regardless of identity or background, feels comfortable walking through their doors.
Real inclusion is about action, visibility, and respect and we’re proud to stand alongside our retailers in creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and welcome.
