The Easter weekend may have hopped by, but these lottery players are still enjoying a sweet winning treat! The Saturday lotto draw delivered a rare surprise, with just one division one winning entry nationally. Meanwhile, the Set for Life game continued its streak, with two prize winners taking home $20,000 a month for the next 20 years!

Read about their stories below.

Four friends, four decades and a $6.4M win

When four Monbulk mates continued their tradition of buying one TattsLotto ticket together, little did they know they’d each walk away as millionaires. This is the first time in almost 12 months the game has produced a single division one winning entry nationally.

“Thank you! This is a ticket for me and my three friends. We’ve had the same numbers for 40 years,” the leader of the private syndicate shared excitedly.

“These are friends I’ve always known. One of them has been through a tough time lately, so they’ll be the first I ring with the good news.

“I’m still in shock but can’t wait to make the phone calls to the others.

“You know what, a few years ago, someone once asked me when I went to get a TattsLotto ticket, ‘do you think you’re ever going to win that?’. Now I’ve won $6.4 million with my friends!”

Set for Life prize kickstarts new beginnings

When you buy a lottery ticket, what numbers do you choose? A Tasmanian woman sat in shock after realising her Set for Life entry, which contained her favourite numbers, landed the division one prize.

“I’ve been playing Set for Life for about three or four years. I’ve always played the same numbers – they’re mainly family birthdays,” she explained.

“It’s been a tough few years, so this is just life-changing for me and my family.

“I’d love to a change of career, maybe even go part-time and have more time to enjoy life with my family.

“What a great Easter surprise!”

The importance of registering your lottery tickets

A Cairns couple are fast-tracking their retirement dreams after discovering they’d scored a Set for Life prize worth $4.8 million, paid in monthly instalments over 20 years.

As they had purchased an unregistered entry, the Queensland retirees were oblivious to their division one prize until reading about the missing winner in their local newspaper.

“We just saw in the local paper that there was a winner from Raintrees,” the winning wife recalled fondly.

“We checked it a second and third time. You buy tickets but never in a million years think you’re going to win division one. You’re usually happy just to get a lower division.

“I’ve always said if we won, I’d get daily help – cleaning, gardening, all the things on the list. It just makes life a whole lot easier.

“We’d also love to travel to Europe again – and maybe upgrade the journey. That’s always been my dream.”
