In case you missed it: Rockhampton mum cheers to $1M, while Oz Lotto game delivers $15M jackpot
Receiving a division one winning call from us is incredibly exciting, but exercising caution is important to protect yourself against scams. Our latest winners are setting a great example, including a Rockhampton woman who checked her lottery ticket first before celebrating her $1 million win!
Would you be able to spot a scam phone call? If you were to score a major lottery prize, one of our team members would be able to share unique details about your winning ticket (such as your entry type) to help verify the authenticity of the call. Alternatively, you can always reach out to us on 131 868 to confirm any communications received are from The Lott.
Let’s dive into our recent winning stories:
The real deal
After ignoring calls from an unfamiliar number, a Rockhampton woman was prompted to double-check her lottery ticket, only to reveal a $1 million Saturday Gold Lotto win. She was quick to dial us back and kickstart the prize-claim process.
“I received some calls from someone earlier on Monday morning, but I didn’t recognise the number, so I left it,” she said.
“But then I realised I had a text from The Lott informing me about a potential win. I was like, ‘Is this a scam?!’. I couldn’t believe it! I had to check my ticket as soon as possible.
“I’ve had some bad luck recently and I decided to buy a lottery ticket on Friday for some positivity. I didn’t expect to win!”
Father’s Day payday
A Maitland dad has an extra spring in his step having held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw. He looks forward to a neat $1 million payday just in time for Father’s Day.
“I saw I had a missed call earlier. While I first thought it was a scam, I did think, ‘hang on a second, it could be real,’” he shared.
“So, I jumped on my phone and immediately told my wife, and she couldn’t believe it. She thought I was tricking her.
“We were just sitting around the table talking about it. It’s going to secure the house and clear the mortgage. That’s why I buy a Lotto ticket – that’s always been the one thing I’d like to do.”
A close call
From shock to serendipity, a Cobbitty woman couldn’t believe her good fortune after her last-minute Oz Lotto ticket revealed a $15 million win.
“Oh my god. You know what’s crazy? I play Oz Lotto every week, but I almost didn’t get this ticket,” she said.
“Last night, just before the draw closed, I realised I had forgotten to get my weekly ticket. I even thought, ‘Do I give it a miss?’. I’m so glad I didn’t!
“The funny thing is, he doesn’t play, but whenever he gets a call from an unknown number, he answers and says, ‘Well, it might be The Lott!’. I always say, ‘They’ll be calling me if we win!’. This time, I was right after all.”
Register your tickets!
And thanks to an insistent push from his sister-in-law, a Young man was rendered speechless when he discovered, more than a week after the draw, he’d won $1.6 million in the Saturday Lotto game.
“I found out on the Sunday after the draw when my sister-in-law rang me and started asking me questions like, ‘Did you buy your ticket at Donges IGA? Was it unregistered?’. I said, ‘Yep and yep!’. She told me, ‘Well, you better check it!’” he recounted.
“She said she just had a feeling it was me. Funnily enough, I replied, ‘I’m busy, I’ll check later’. When I finally checked it online, I was completely shocked to see it really was me.
“It’s just wonderful and completely life-changing. I didn’t come forward straight away because of work. I didn’t want to let anyone down.
“I’ve already told my children I’ll be helping them out. They’re over the moon because it’ll help them get into the housing market.
