A Helensburgh man’s mid-week commute to work took an unexpected turn after he landed a whopping $8 million in Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw.

“At first, a prize amount of $14.90 just appeared so I had no idea that I’d won big. I just thought, ‘Surely, you’re not calling about that’,” he explained when we confirmed his prize.

“I’m going to call my wife after this, and we’ll pop the champagne once we see the millions in our bank account!

“It certainly gives you a lot of options. While it could be nice to retire, I think I’ll keep working. I would get bored otherwise.”

Curing the sick leave blues

Despite feeling run down with a cold, a Toowoomba man’s day instantly brightened when he discovered he held a Saturday Gold Lotto winning entry worth $2 million.

“I treat myself to a ticket once a fortnight. I almost didn’t bother going through with purchasing the ticket,” he shared.

“But I’m so glad I did! I would’ve missed out otherwise!

“I’m on sick leave and I’ve been bed bound so this has really come at a great time.”

“I’ll have to make an appointment with a financial advisor and set up my future now.”
