In case you missed it: Gold Coast woman scratches biggest-ever Instant Scratch-Its top prize
Winning the lottery is a thrilling experience, and Queensland players were no stranger to the excitement this week. A Gold Coast woman scratched her way to the biggest-ever Instant Scratch-Its top prize of $1.5 million! Read more about her winning reaction below.
History in the scratching
A Miami woman rode a wave of emotions after taking home the biggest-ever Instant Scratch-Its top prize. With $1.5 million on the way, she plans to share the win with her family, go travelling, and donate to several local charities.
“When I scratched the winning ticket, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was honestly a mix of unsure and dumbfounded,” she said to us in disbelief.
“We want to share the prize with family and take a few holidays. We’ve always wanted to explore more of Australia, and now we can.
“We also have a select few charities that are close to our hearts, including Surf Life Saving Queensland, RSL Queensland and children’s cancer charities. We’ll able to support them more than ever.”
On cloud wine
Meanwhile, an Esk couple swapped their morning coffee with a celebratory glass of red wine after their favourite lottery numbers landed them the Saturday Gold Lotto division one prize!
“I’ve been playing those numbers for at least 15 years. The family helped pick them - birthdates and other special numbers,” the winning woman shared excitedly.
“There’s always things that come up, helping family and others, but this means we can finally have a nest egg for our future retirement.
“I’d normally have a coffee at this time in the morning, but I might have a wine instead!”
Saturday night thrills
Heading up the coast, a Hervey Bay man spent a sleepless Saturday night thinking about his $820,000 winning Saturday Gold Lotto ticket. The chirpy Queenslander has been playing the same entry type for over a year, waiting for this very moment to see his numbers land him the big one.
“I’ve been replaying this same ticket since the start of last year. My theory is that the numbers will come to me if I stick to them,” he explained.
“This is life-changing. I have no luck. I’m not a lucky person, but I guess it’s changed, and it’s all been building to this.
“I’ll have to speak to a financial advisor. We’ll be able to pay off the house and invest the rest for our family’s future.”
Super 66 ticket delivers super news
And a Bundaberg woman made the eleventh-hour decision to purchase her Super 66 ticket from another store, only for this to reveal her division one win!
“It’s funny, I’ve always had a feeling I’d win big one day, but I won’t truly believe it until it’s in the bank account,” she shared.
“I don’t normally get my tickets from that shop, but I was there and thought, ‘they’re always lucky, I’m going to get it from there’.
“I was standing at the counter and asked for 10 games on Super 66. Then at the last minute I said, ‘Can you make it 20 games?’. And it was on game 11 that I won.”
