In case you missed it: Adelaide woman’s heart flutters over $1.2M Saturday Lotto win
Winning the lottery is nothing short of a fairytale, and for a Gawler woman, that moment became very real when she discovered her $1.2 million win in the Saturday Lotto game.
Despite becoming a millionaire, the Adelaide healthcare worker said she plans to keep working as she loves her job.
A heart-pounding moment
After coming to terms with the dreamy news, a hard-working Gawler nurse shared she’ll continue supporting her community even after winning the $1.2 million Saturday Lotto division one prize.
“My eyes were just not believing it. God, my heart is still thumping. I feel like I’m about to have heart failure,” she said in complete shock.
“They’re just random numbers I plonk in there but funnily enough; there are a few family birthdays on the ticket!
“It’s just such a great feeling. I can help my children with their debts and look at a house for myself.
“It’ll also help with retirement. I’ll still work because I love my job!”
Mystery winner revealed
A Logan woman’s life has taken a dramatic twist when she learnt about her $1.2 million Saturday Gold Lotto win.
As the winning ticket was unregistered, we had to wait for the mystery woman to come forward to claim her prize – a timely reminder of why registering your entries to The Lott Members Club matters.
“I’m still processing the news. I checked the ticket on Saturday, and I had to check the ticket about 10 times. I just couldn’t believe it,” she recounted.
“I normally play Powerball and Saturday lotto. In fact, I’ve been playing for 17 years, and I think the most I’ve ever won in my entire life is $90!
“I’ve always just thought I was unlucky in life.
“I honestly don’t think it will feel real until it’s in my bank account!”
No more waiting
Also in sunny south-east Queensland, cheers erupted in Nundah when a man’s “dream of winning big” finally came true. He scored $1 million from a Weekday Windfall marked entry.
“I’ve been popping the champagne in my head,” he laughed when we confirmed the news.
“Every time you purchase a lottery ticket, you dream of winning big.
“I’ve always said a $1 million win would make me very happy and here I am!
“This win gives me the chance to retire early and do something special with my life.”
Winning week for Willoughby man
Meanwhile, a Willoughby man’s jaw dropped to the floor the moment he checked his Saturday Lotto ticket and revealed his $1.2 million win.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for probably 15 years. They’re nothing special, just a 14-game ticket I played all those years ago and just kept replaying,” he explained.
“I actually was replaying the ticket at the newsagency when I realised the good news.
“The woman at the counter said I’d won a major prize. I asked, ‘How much? A few hundred? A few thousand?’.
“I didn’t want to get my hopes up, so I just thought it was $1,000. Then I checked my ticket on The Lott website and I just went, ‘Oh!’.”
With $50 million up for grabs in Powerball draw 1551, what would be your reaction if you won? You can get an entry in-store, online or via The Lott app for the chance to find out.
