“I’m that bloke that beat the odds!”: Erina family and dog go wild following $30 million Oz Lotto win
An Erina man has struck gold after his first ever set of self-picked numbers turned into a staggering $30 million Oz Lotto win, unleashing chaotic celebrations around the house.
The Central Coast resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1689 on Tuesday 30 June 2026 and pocketed $30 million.
When we called to confirm the prize, the hardworking man was already at work despite a sleepless night.
“I’m splendid! I’m just at work but I’ve been waiting for you call!” he cheered.
“I was up all night checking it every five minutes. It’s legendary.
“I was absolutely knackered last night and just as I was going to bed I checked my ticket. That’s when I saw all the yellow numbers. They looked like tennis balls and I thought, ‘Hang on’.
“I got the family to check and we just went crazy. We were all running around the house like mad people and the dog was going off. It was hilarious.
“It also took me another 20 minutes to realise I’m not sharing the prize. I won the whole thing. I’m that bloke that beat the odds.
“I’ve been playing Oz Lotto for ages, but the crazy thing is that this was the first time I selected all my own numbers. Usually, I do a QuickPick. It’s a bit freaky! I’m quite proud of myself for choosing them.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy the prize, the winning man said being mortgage-free was the first priority.
“We’ll definitely pay off the mortgage!” he said.
“I’ll take time to think about what else. We want to be wise with it.
“Thank you so much. You’ve made my whole life. I’m still numb!”
His winning marked System entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
