A Stepney man has discovered he’d unknowingly been sitting on a $2 million windfall for almost a month, realising his good fortune after checking his Saturday X Lotto ticket yesterday.
 
The Adelaide resident held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4673, drawn Saturday 2 May 2026. He can look forward to a $2,139,901.06 prize.
 
As the winning ticket wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, we had no way of contacting him with the life-changing news and instead had to wait for him to come forward.
 
When the winning man finally checked his ticket, he revealed it had been sitting in his wallet the entire time.
 
“Cheers! I was trying not to get too excited until it was confirmed,” he laughed.
 
“I can’t believe that. I only check my tickets once a month, so I had absolutely no idea.

“I was at the shops yesterday and realised it had been a while since I last checked them, so I thought, ‘I better have a look’.

“Just as well I didn’t lose it! Thankfully, it had been sitting safely in my wallet.”
 
Despite discovering he was now a newly-minted millionaire, the generous man was more focused on how the windfall would help others.
 
“We’ve got a couple of things we’d like to do,” he said.
 
“Most importantly, we want to help family and charities.
 
“It’ll really allow us to make more charitable donations throughout the year.
 
“Thank you so much!”
 
His winning entry was purchased at The Avenues Newsagency & Stationery, Shop 4/114 Payneham Road, Stepney.
 
The Avenues Newsagency & Stationery owner Mr Marcel Greco said he was thrilled to sell another division one winning entry.
 
“When I heard the winning news, a big smile came on my face. I was so happy to know one of our customers won $2 million!” he said.
 
“We’ve sold five division one winning tickets over the years, and our last one was sold in April 2024.
