In case you missed it: Bundaberg man takes home entire $10M Powerball prize
We’ve left our winners sleepless and speechless this week. From a $10 million Powerball prize to a $100,000 Lucky Lotteries loot, the wins — big and small — have brought life-changing reactions. Here’s some of our favourites:
$10M Powerball win changes Bundaberg man’s life
A Bundaberg man and his wife are financially free and retiring after he held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw (1503). The hard-working man couldn’t hold back the tears when we confirmed his $10 million Powerball prize.
“I feel like crying!” the man exclaimed when we confirmed the enormity of his win.
“Mate, I’ve got tears in my eyes. This is just life-changing.
“My wife and I have worked hard all our lives, but this means we can retire early now. We’re not going to work anymore.
“All I’ve ever wanted is to not stress about money, and this means we won’t have to worry about that anymore.
“I feel like I won’t sleep tonight. I think I’ll just be talking to the missus for the next couple of hours.”
“I thought it was a hoax”
A Gilles Plains man was brought to his knees after he realised his $884 win was in fact $884,000. He confessed he’s been on cloud nine despite barely sleeping since he discovered his Saturday X Lotto division one win.
“I’m not going to cry a river, but I’m so happy. I’m just so happy. Thank you for your call. I’m so happy,” he cried.
“This is huge for me. I can buy a home, live mortgage free, and continue to work.
“You know what, at first, I thought it was a hoax.
“I looked at the ticket and then got down on my knees in front of my partner and screamed, ‘I’ve won $884! Hang on, it’s $8,840. No! It’s $884,000!”
Division one win or delusion?
A Frenchs Forest dad was pleased to wake up with his division one still a reality, after discovering he’d scored $1 million in a Weekday Windfall draw right before bed.
“I was hoping you would call soon!” he laughed.
“I checked my ticket just before I went to bed and after that I didn’t sleep a wink.
“My partner said, ‘What’s going on?’ and I said, ‘I think we’ve won the lotto!’. Then we both started to freak out.
“Even this morning I was wondering if I dreamt it all.”
Heart-stopping win in Wynyard
Nerves and nausea were the side effects of a Wynyard mum’s TattsLotto win. She joked she nearly had a heart attack when she checked her ticket and realised she was the $884,000 mystery winner we’d been looking for.
“I heard they still hadn’t found the winner, and I told my family they were looking for a winner and asked if they had a ticket in Saturday night’s draw,” she explained.
“Then I remembered I had a ticket and all these missed calls from a number I didn’t recognise. So, I got my ticket and checked it! I squealed!
“I nearly had a heart attack. I was going to vomit before.
“I’ll be too nervous to eat tonight, but I’m thinking a glass of wine might go down alright.”
Merimbula Mum misty-eyed
Luckily we were already on the call to a Merimbula mother after tears of joy temporarily flooded her vision. Overcome with emotion after she discovered she’d won $100,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries draw, the generous mother wasted no time thinking of her beloved children and how she could help them.
“Holy sh*t! Is this real?!” the winning woman questioned.
“I can’t see anything through my tears right now.
“I can’t believe this has happened to me – never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d win anything.”
“I just want to help my kids. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
