Elusive winner found! Shoal Bay man comes forward to claim $1 million Weekday Windfall prize
A Shoal Bay man has been unknowingly walking around as a newfound millionaire for over a week after winning $1 million in a recent Weekday Windfall draw.
The New South Wales player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4602 on Monday 22 September 2025 and can look forward to a thrilling $1 million.
Initially unaware of his life-enhancing prize, the victorious man missed multiple phone calls from us before finally checking his ticket yesterday.
“I’m better now, mate!” he laughed when we spoke with him.
“It’s pretty great news. Thank you very much. It’ll most definitely help.
“I had no idea until today. I asked my neighbour for some help checking my ticket, up came the numbers and she just went, ‘I can’t breathe!’.
“She then showed me the win, and I just thought ‘No, something has to be wrong!’.
“I only play a small, 4-game ticket, and I’ve been using these same numbers for the past 40 or 50 years now.”
When asked how he planned to use his windfall, the winning man shared that he would use the prize wisely.
“I’ll see a financial advisor first and set everything up,” he said.
“For now, I’ll have a celebratory stubby this afternoon. Thank you!”
His winning entry was purchased from Shoal Bay Newsagency, Shops 32-33 Bay Village, 47-51 Shoal Bay Road, Shoal Bay.
Shoal Bay Newsagency owner John Boltjes said he was thrilled to sell a division one winning entry in Weekday Windfall.
“I initially couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw we had a division one winner, but then I had a big smile on my face and couldn’t wait to share the news with everyone,” he said.
“We’ve decorated the store and let all our customers know about the win to share in the excitement.
“This is my first division one win since taking over the business in December 2024, but the newsagency itself has had several in its 50 years of operating.
“I’d like to congratulate the winner, and we wish you all the best with your prize.”
