Yorketown dad grabs $3.3 million winning ticket after “feeling lucky”

A Yorketown dad has confessed he only grabbed his Saturday X Lotto ticket that won $3.3 million after “feeling lucky”.

“It’s beautiful!” he declared when an official from The Lott confirmed his prize.

“I’ve been playing for years and years.

“I was feeling lucky on Saturday, and I saw the newsagency across the road, so I thought I’d grab a ticket.

“I always check the numbers on a Saturday night after the draw. I was looking down the ticket and thought, ‘I haven’t got anything there’, but then I saw the game with all the numbers and thought, ‘Oh no! I’ve got it!”.

“I just couldn’t believe it and I had to get my family to check the ticket.

“I got no sleep Saturday night. I kept getting up to check the ticket to make sure it wasn’t a dream.

“It hasn’t been a great start to the year for me, but that’s all changed now.

“I’m going to buy my own home – I’ve already been online looking at homes.

“This will also help speed up my retirement – I’ll be able to step back a bit more.”

His winning entry was purchased at Yorketown Newsagency, 7 Edithburgh Road, Yorketown.

Yorketown Newsagency owners Duncan and Andrea Algie said they were thrilled to hear they had sold a division one winning entry.

“Our customers will be excited for our winner and hoping that it is them. Congratulations to them. We hope the money helps them out in their future and fulfils their dreams,” Duncan said.

“We have been lucky with selling lottery tickets so come into Yorketown Newsagency. We had a division one winner in January 2021.  We’ve been a lucky newsagency in the past four years.”
